At St Peter’s, we believe physical education is essential to every child’s development. Through PE, our whole-school values and a whole-child approach, we aim to nurture confident, resilient children who strive for their personal best.
We listen to our children’s wants and needs, providing a range of active experiences and clubs. We encourage children to celebrate their own achievements modestly, while recognising and respecting the successes of others. Our aim is to equip every child with the skills, confidence and mindset to thrive in sport and maintain an active lifestyle at secondary school and beyond.
We are committed to educating children and families about healthy choices and lifestyles, supporting both physical and mental well-being. Through strong links with local clubs and community partnerships, we strive to ensure our children and families have access to the support, opportunities and knowledge they need to lead healthy, active lives.
We work with highly trained sports' coaches to offer the children a wide range of sporting opportunities both during curriculum time and at after school clubs.
The development of our Physical Education curriculum has been purposefully constructed to underpin core principles and values of the school along with the aim and ‘purpose of study’ from the National Curriculum.

Here is the overview of PE and the sports each year group will be focusing on this academic year.

The six values of passion, belief, respect, honesty, determination and teamwork were developed by young people to identify what the experience of school sport should be built around. These values have been successfully applied by various primary schools in the hope to develop a range of behaviours, qualities and inter-personal skills with their students based on sporting experiences, scenarios and attitudes.
We will be focusing on these values in our lessons and awarding those children who have shown great examples in lessons. These Core values can be awarded at Intra and inter school competition and festivals too.
