Attendance

We expect parents to ensure that their child attends school every day unless they are ill.

On the first day of absence, you need to inform the school of the reason by telephoning the school office on:

KS1 0121 464 2128 / KS2 0121 464 2126

Parents should not arrange medical and dental appointments in school time wherever possible, however we do appreciate hospital appointments are an exception to this rule.

Parents must not book holidays during term time, these will not be authorised.

Punctuality

We expect the children to be on time for school every day. Please ensure that your child arrives at school in good time for the start of the day. You do have the option of dropping off your child before the bell during the 15-minute flexible drop off period.

School start times:

Nursery start 8.45am

Infants start 8.55am

Juniors start 8.45am

St Peter’s CE Primary School would like to continue to improve on our school attendance and punctuality. Working in partnership with parents will enable us to achieve this. We will be running a “Spotlight on Attendance” programme and will be monitoring our whole school attendance and punctuality.

We will:

Observe any patterns of absence

Ring parents on first day of absence

Regularly inform parents on children’s attendance and punctuality via our website, noticeboard and school newsletter.

Write to parents with any concerns regarding punctuality and attendance.

Communicate and meet with parents where necessary.

Work collaboratively with outside agencies.

Reward attendance and punctuality with attendance certificates and badges.

If you are having any difficulties getting your child to school, or want to discuss any attendance issues,

please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Farrell (Attendance Officer) in the junior school office.
