Makaton Signs
Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate. It is designed to support spoken language so it is important that the signs and symbols are always accompanied by the spoken word and not used as a replacement. At St. Peter’s it is mainly used in our Nursery and Reception classes. We find it particularly helpful during circle times and when modelling and using questioning skills. It is also a useful tool to support our multisensory phonics programme.
