Lego Therapy

What is Lego Therapy?

Lego Therapy is a structured, evidence-based social development programme that uses collaborative Lego building to support children's communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills. It is especially beneficial for children with social communication difficulties including those with autism.

Why Lego Therapy?

Through fun and engaging sessions, children learn to:

  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Develop communication and language skills
  • Build confidence and self esteem
  • improve attention and listening skills
  • practice turn-taking and sharing

How it works:

Children work in small groups (usually 3), with each child taking on a specific role:

  • Engineer - gives instructions
  • Builder - follows the instructions to build
  • Supplier - finds and provides the pieces

Roles rota at each session so that every child experiences each responsibility.

Who can take part?

  • Find social interaction challenging

  • Enjoy building and hands on learning

Children are referred by class teacher or SENDCo.
